Dvorak: The Chamber Music Survey

concert 23 September, 2018 - 3:00 PM

[Bohemian National Hall]

The distinguished Martinu Quartet from the Czech Republic will present music by master composer Antonin Dvorak in the third edition of DAHA's unprecedented  multi-year survey of Dvorak's chamber music works. The Martinu Quartet has received raves from the press and audiences for their “breathtaking musicality” and their “ability to disclose their musical soul in...an unrestrained way: in completely rounded, flawless teamwork.”

It is in the medium of the string quartet that composers often wrote their most profound works, and sharing this music is in itself a kind of spriritual journey. In this concert, the players will circumscribe the arc of Dvorak's musical vision at they perform pieces from key periods of his career. The musical selections will include Dvorak's Terzetto in C Major Opus 74; String Quartet No. 12 in F Major Opus 96, the "American"; and String Quartet No. 14 in A-Flat Major Opus 105.
