Joseph Balaz 02 January, 2018

As we enter 2018, a new season is upon us. At this time of the year, it is a beautiful custom that people wish each other health, happiness, and success in the new year. We at the Bohemian Benevolent & Literary Association are ready to welcome you to a plethora of events and exhibitions we have planed for you.

This year we will celebrate 100 years of Czechoslovakia as well as the 10th anniversary of the re-opening of the renovated Bohemian National Hall, which itself saw its 120th birthday in 2016.
What I find quite interesting is the importance of our 126 years old BBLA in the creation of the First Republic. According to our historians, the BBLA, together with our member organizations (namely Sokol), played a pivotal role in urging president Woodrow Wilson and the American government to support the establishment of Czechoslovakia. There will be lectures on this topic in the latter part of the year together with many other festivities, so keep a sharp eye on our event calendar.

We hope to see you soon. On behalf of the entire BBLA team and our trustees I wish you a very Happy New Year!

Yours,

Joseph Balaz, President

Bohemian Benevolent & Literary Association
