Children’s workshop organized as part of a four-day mini-festival commemorating the 90th anniversary of Vaclav Havel’s birth. Children will be introduced to Vaclav Havel and his legacy in an engaging and approachable way.
In the second part of the program, author Sylva Francova will share the creative process behind her beautifully illustrated book, Áďa spadla do kanálu aneb Putování dávnou Prahou (Ada Fell Down a Manhole or: A Journey Through Old Prague). The book takes young readers on an adventure through the changing faces of Prague, spanning from the 10th century to the present day.
During the hands-on workshop, children will get to create an illustrated book piece of their own!
The workshop is held in Czech and English. For school-aged children (7-14 years), parents are welcome to join as well.
Free and open to the public. Suggested donation: $10. Seats are limited, on a first-come first-served basis. RSVP is required.
About
SYLVA FRANCOVA works across illustration, book writing, animation design, and time-lapse photography. She holds a degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and currently lectures on visual arts at the Faculty of Education at Charles University. Her book about Áďa in Prague received the Teachers’ Award for its contribution to children’s literacy and was nominated for Best Children’s Book of 2019.
